Brian Smyth

Effective independent trustees must have both an eye for detail and a strong grasp of the big picture – and be agile enough to move seamlessly between the two.

Brian Smyth is a seasoned pensions professional who has covered the full spectrum of roles in a 40 year career.  He is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and has been a Registered Independent Financial Adviser. His career began in 1978 with a major consulting business, specialising in documentation and administration.  He then became a consultant, advising trustee boards and corporates, before establishing his own highly successful employee benefits business in 1986. Brian also enjoyed a long involvement with the Territorial Army where he developed strategic and leadership skills. After building and exiting his multi-million pound pension administration and consultancy operation, Brian has now joined PAN to bring his heavyweight experience to work as an independent trustee.
